Our Ticket Office is currently CLOSED whilst we finalise details and running dates for our next two railtours. To stay fully informed about our trains, ticket availability, heritage railways and freight routes to be traversed and up and coming railtours, please join our Mailing List.

Our Terms & Conditions

We have tried to keep these as straight forward as possible. Please bear in mind that Charity Railtours is a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers.

See below, any charges that might be incurred due to cancellation or refund - we have strived to keep these costs to an absolute minimum, to cover costs such as credit card handling fees, postage and sundries etc.

  1. The ticket you purchase is also a seat reservation. There are not normally any walk-on fares but we reserve the right to sell tickets on the day if we have spare capacity.

  2. Your ticket is ONLY valid for travel on the Charity Railtours service named thereon. Your ticket is NOT valid on any other train operated by any other Operator.

  3. Occasionally there are last minute changes to traction, rolling stock, route or date. Mechanical failure, engineering work or other outside influences can force alterations; however we will do everything possible to deliver the railtour advertised. We reserve the right to amend the traction, rolling stock, route or date and shall not incur any liability to our customers.

  4. On the day of your railtour, we made need to react to delays and diversions etc caused by circumstances beyond our control. We shall not incur any liability for late running or missed connections.

  5. We advise all passengers to please allow sufficient time for your journey to your joining station, as we shall not be able to delay departure for late-comers.

  6. In the regrettable instance of insufficient ticket sales, we reserve the right to cancel the railtour. All passengers will be issued a full refund of the ticket price by cheque. No other liability will be incurred.

  7. We understand that sometimes passengers' circumstances change and you may require a refund as you can no longer travel. Please contact us as soon as possible and note we can only issue refunds up to thirteen weeks prior to travel. This is because at that cut-off point Charity Railtours is liable for payment of a deposit to the train operator. Passengers requesting a refund prior to the thirteen week deadline will receive the amount paid for their ticket, minus 3% admin charge.

  8. We regret that at the moment we can not refund a passenger who wishes to cancel within thirteen weeks of the tour date.

  9. For complete peace of mind, we recommend customers consider purchasing travel insurance
